Khazanah Global Scholarship Awards 2012. The journey continues. Stage 3.

Ma Beats. I like 'em PURPLE :D

So, a week is not that long compared to two weeks. And so we waited day and night for the notification for the results. AGAIN, until the morning before the day there is still no news at all. Oh well, we did our best. Through out the whole week I'd been sticking close to the four of us just to find out who made it, but no electronic devices could really tell us who made it. Me and Afar was lining up for dinner that night when we're called to the High Table. We held our hands nervously as we walking towards the table. Alhamdulillah, both of us made it to Stage 3. The rumors were somewhat true. Like I said, we've been receiving many information but nothing was for sure. Until we went up to the table. It's like deja vu, we're making another visit to Cikgu Azura's house to discuss on what to do. So, Stage 3 is at Khazanah's HQ at the Twin Towers and it looks like I will have to borrow a prefect attire for that day.

We skipped class the whole day to do our research and prepare our resume for the interview(lesson learned from Stage 2). We left school at 12 p.m. and arrived at the towers at 1 p.m. And again we we're early. I'd scribble some stuff with the supplied stationary and we went to perform zuhur prayers while Faris(MRSM Langkawi) watched our bags. And we came back to see that everyone is already there. I miss them somehow. I mean, we've known each other during Stage 2 and it's like a reunion or something. No need for introduction :D 6 from KYS, 1 from MRSM and the rest is SBP-ians. Wow, there was like 19 of us from the 86 in Stage 2.

Stage 3 is basically an interview with Khazanah's Director, Mr. Azman. It's a seven minutes interview with three questions. We were given some time to think about it. Fortunately, this time I'm on top of the list because of my name -.- I managed to get the story of only one guy and then it was my turn.
  • Talk about yourself.
  • Choose one current issue and how it EFFECTS YOU.
  • Why you deserve this scholarship.
Mr. Azman has the most fatherly face. And it was easy to talk to him. I chose to talk about the project Iskandar Malaysia in Johor because it's a huge project and I think it was a big help to reach out to the people in Johor. The thing that matters to me the most is about helping others and after coming back from India, I see how crucial it is to help our people to develop better lives for themselves. I know it's not much but that's just how I see it. I asked how'd he climbed up the corporate ladder and that was pretty much it. I thanked him for his time and walked out.

The rest was history. I went back to the waiting room to continue chatting with the rest of us. We played a lot of crazy things while waiting each other turns. Even when Afar was done we still stayed back because the teachers were having their hi-tea that day. So, imagine what 17 year old teens who don't go out much with a big board exam coming just around the corner did in a small corporate building waiting for an interview for their future? We partied. Surprisingly. Even when there's only stationary and a lazer pen. I mean, Dzul(KYS) brought his junior's laptop and even played a game of rugby on it. Like he knew there's nothing to do. We wiped the refreshment table clean(I think) and wished everyone good luck when it's their turn. And goodbye was hard again. All in all, it was a day to remember. Despite of who would qualify to the next round.

And that was as far as I went for Khazanah. I didn't get chosen to the last round. Afar did though and we're so proud of her. Out of 19, 7 was chosen. 3 girls and 4 boys. The last stage is an interview with the Board of Directors. They met Tan Sri Azman, the Managing Director of Khazanah Bhd. Quite casual, I heard. Hopefully, they'll all succeed.

Everything happens for a reason.
